A tank fleet can be leased in a few weeks. Depot land next to the port, with ground strong enough for tractors, three-phase power and wastewater treatment for tank cleaning cannot. This is why many international logistics companies serve Vietnam from Singapore and Thailand: they have no foothold on land.
What a depot does
- Lifts ISOs between tractors, yard and feeder ship.
- Inspection, pressure testing, valve repair and fittings replacement.
- Certified cleaning of chemical tanks; a separate line for food-grade.
- Yard storage between turns, with pressure monitoring for cryogenic tanks.
CF Land — industrial land and utilities
CF Land, a CF Group member, publishes its business as industrial land and industrial-park utilities: power, water, wastewater treatment; built-to-suit factories and warehouses. For CF Energy the depot is not sub-leased from a third party on a short contract but sits on infrastructure the ecosystem itself develops and runs the utilities for.
What it means for cargo owners
Chemical ISO tanks arriving at Vietnamese ports today often wait for days with agents that have no dedicated depot, incurring container demurrage and transloading risk. A local depot means shorter turnaround, less transloading, and one address responsible for the tank's condition.
A depot opens on a route that already has cargo, not ahead of it to wait for cargo. But the land and permits must be ready before the first contract is signed.
